The Abandoned Railway Shed of Budapest

For this year’s (my last ever) study trip with university we visited the very beautiful and very sunny Budapest. You can read my post about the week I had eating rose ice creams, enjoying the thermal baths and site seeing on the university blog, here:https://commphotoderby.com/2017/05/05/budapest/. However, for this, my personal blog I wanted to focus on my favourite location of the week away, the abandoned railway shed. It’s strong light beams and contrasting shadows made the interior of the building a site to behold. But looking closely I took great interest in the textures of the peeling paint, the wreckage inside the carriages, and those left in tact. Thinking of the stories and events that may have happened there, imagining the people and the atmosphere. I find there is something truly beautiful in decay and taking a peak into history. There is also a certain thrill about entering a place you’re not supposed to be; the phrase “forbidden fruit” enters my mind.
